What we collect, and what we deliberately do not.
Short version: no advertising cookies, no cross-site tracking, no profile of you. This page exists because you are entitled to know exactly what happens when you read it.
What we collect when you visit
Nothing that identifies you is stored by us. This site has no login, no comment system and no user accounts. There is no advertising network on these pages and no third-party tracking script of any kind.
Page views are measured with Cloudflare Web Analytics, which is cookieless. It records aggregate information only:
| Recorded | Not recorded |
|---|---|
| The page you viewed, the site that referred you, your country, your browser and screen size, and load time | Cookie identifiers, a persistent ID for your device, your name, your email, or a history of pages across other sites |
Because no cookie is set and no identifier is stored, there is nothing to consent to and no consent banner is shown. Our hosting provider (Netlify) keeps standard server logs for security and abuse prevention, which are retained for a short period and not used for marketing.
Affiliate links
Some links on this site are affiliate links: Amazon product and search links, and Etsy links tracked through the Awin network. If you click one, the merchant and its network may set their own cookies to attribute a purchase to this site.
Those cookies are set by them, under their policies, not by us — and we never receive your name, address, email or what you bought. All we see is an aggregate report: how many clicks, how many orders, how much commission. The relevant policies are:
- Amazon: amazon.com/gp/help/customer/display.html?nodeId=GX7NJQ4ZB8MHFRNJ
- Etsy: etsy.com/legal/cookies
- Awin: awin.com/en/privacy-policy
The newsletter
Current status: the signup form on the home page is not yet connected to a mailing service, and submissions are not stored anywhere. This page will be updated before we start collecting email addresses.
When the newsletter does launch, it will ask for one thing only — your email address — will be used for nothing except sending the weekly email, and will be removable with a single unsubscribe click in every issue. No address will ever be sold, rented or shared.
Content and images
All text on this site is original. Illustrations are produced in-house and are partly AI-assisted; where that is the case, the Pinterest version of the image is labelled as such. No third-party photographs are used without permission.
Your rights
If you are in the EU, UK, Switzerland or California, you have the right to know what personal data a site holds about you, to correct it, to delete it, and to object to its processing. In our case the answer is usually simple: we hold no personal data about you at all, because nothing on this site identifies an individual visitor.
If you have written to us by email, we hold that message and your address for as long as it takes to answer, and you can ask us to delete it at any time.
Children
This site is written for adults and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 13. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, write to us and we will delete it.
Changes
If this policy changes — for example when the newsletter is connected, or if analytics are replaced — the change will be published here with a new date. We do not backdate edits.
